Emily’s entertainment career began at an early age. While strapped to the shopping cart at the local grocery store, she would often recite back television commercials for products to her mother and anyone else down the aisles that would listen. You could also find her posing at the mall amongst the mannequins much to the distress of her parents and performing low budget “magic” shows for her family on the weekends.

She decided to take some time off to start school, where she mastered the art of coloring in the lines, writing cursive, making up stories, and following directions…..for the most part. Despite her desire to entertain, Emily also struggled with the typical social shyness that comes with being a lanky girl with braces and glasses. She was determined to conquer her fear of being on stage and having large groups of unknown people stare at her, so she took the plunge and signed up for her first acting class in high school.

Thanks to her teachers, she quickly broadened her love for all the creative arts, especially drama and writing, and sought out all the theatre experience she could find. She participated in local theatre and regional drama and literary competitions, where she earned awards for her creations.

After graduation, Emily thought to herself, “Well, I guess I should get a degree for a ‘real’ job so I can make money and still do what I love.”  So she attended the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga where she earned a B.A. in Communication and got the chance to work in front of the camera as well as behind - producing, shooting, and editing college news and television programs. However, she still made time to attend on-camera acting classes and workshops in the Chattanooga and Atlanta area.

Today she works as a freelance videographer and editor while pursuing her first love of acting. Hitting the open road and getting the chance to meet new people are the two favorite parts of her job. She has had the opportunity to work on awarding shorts including Electronic Solutions and 20Q, where she got the chance to work with SNL alum Victoria Jackson, a comedic childhood idol. She also enjoys working with local high school students on after school film programs like The Reel Stories documentary project with the Association of Visual Arts.

When she isn’t working, Emily loves spending time with family and friends, who always bring her many laughs and much inspiration. She also enjoys catching the latest movie at the theatre and shopping for hidden treasures at local vintage shops. The rest of her leisure time is split between working out, rocking out at Guitar Hero parties, and attending belly dance class, her latest experiment in pushing herself outside her comfort zone.
